DWR NEWS - SEPTEMBER 2010:
Friday, 10th September 2010: Bees win sees them in the play-offs.
The Pirates went down to a 53:42 defeat at Brandon Stadium, Coventry last night. Darcy scored eight, paid nine, points from four rides. His tally included a double points tactical second place.
The Bees victory, their seventh in their last eight league matches, takes them into the play-offs, along with the Pirates, Wolverhampton and Peterborough. Lakeside, who for most of the season looked to be heading for one of the top four spots, missed out after dropping points in their last two home matches and defeat at Swindon last night ended their hopes.
Poole, by virtue of their top place finish in the league, had first choice of opponents in the play-off semi-final and have opted to take on second place finishers Wolverhampton. The first leg takes place at Monmore Stadium on Monday, with the second leg at Wimborne Road seven days later, Monday 20th September.
Peterborough face Coventry in the other semi-final. The Bees hosting the first leg, and the matches taking place simultaneously with the Pirates semi-final clashes.
In between their play-off semi-final encounters the Pirates have to travel to Ipswich on Thursday 16th September to fulfill their last remaining Elite League fixture.
Darcy's score: 1*,3,4!,Fx = 8 (paid 9)

Thursday, 2nd September 2010: Pirates triumph at Wimborne Road.
Maximum heat advantages for the home side in heats one, two and fifteen ultimately made the difference between these two sides as, having gone eight points up after the first two races, the Pirates failed to capitalise on their advantage and allowed their visitors, the Peterborough Panthers to claw back the deficit and keep in contention throughout the meeting.
Seven points down going into the final race, the Panthers still had an opportunity to grab a losing bonus point. Something that looked a distinct possibility with Bjarne Pedersen trailing Kenneth Bjerre and Troy Batchelor holding off Chris Holder. Unfortunately for Peterborough, Bjerre packed up and Holder then got past Batchelor to deprive the Panthers of anything for their efforts and seal a 51:39 victory for the Pirates.
Poole, with just two league matches remaining, both away, at Coventry and to basement club Ipswich, can now start looking forward to the play-offs.
Darcy's score: 2*,2,3,1 = 8 (paid 10)

Wednesday, 1st September 2010: Panthers head south.
In their final home league meeting prior to the play-offs, the Pirates face the Peterborough Panthers at Wimborne Road this evening.
The visitors will hardly be brimming with confidence, having suffered a home defeat at the hands of the Eastbourne Eagles on Monday. They will, however, be determined to offer some stern resistance to the high flying Pirates in order to restore some of their pride and enhance their play-off chances.
